Thanks! You may already know, but this: [link] is a really good starting point. I didn't follow it exactly (because it's not quite accurate >.<) but it definitely helped give a sense of how it all fits together. :3
this is absolutely phenomenal, I can't believe no one has commented on this! your work is amazing, kudos x 1,000,000 for attempting and succeeding in the creation of such a thing as automail, you nailed it perfectly! bask in your excellence!
oh! I was also wondering what materials you used to create the automail? I know some people have their "trade secrets", so don't feel obligated, I was just curious if you happen to want to---your process could be far easier/harder than the one I had in mind with aluminum cans/paperclay/paper maché for a suit of period Medieval armor I'm working on ;3
The arm and 's armor are both made out of a thermoplastic called wonderflex over a craft foam base. We then gessoed and sanded them to smooth the surface before spray painting. >.<
It took a lot of work, but working with aluminum sounds harder. @0@ I would be curious to see how your armor turns out~ will you be posting pictures?
that's an amazing process! I'll have to research that wonderflex more, it sounds like some pretty cool stuff---yep, I'll probably be posting pictures when it's all finished! ;3 yeeaaaah, the aluminum just plain HURTS! you really have to make sure to sand ALL of the edges or injury results.. ;D
thanks so much! keep creating, you're a phenomenal artist
